One or two of the reviews of Apollo Quartet 1: Adrift on the Sea of Rains have mentioned that the jonbar point – ie, the point at which the twentieth century as depicted in the novella became an alternate history – is not obvious. I have now done a little research and have determined that jonbar point for myself. And if you can figure out what it is, then once Apollo Quartet 2: The Eye With Which The Universe Beholds Itself is published, I will send you a free copy.
The event took place on 19 March 1962. It is related to one of the items covered in the glossary of Adrift on the Sea of Rains. That’s all the clues I’m going to give. It is, however, a quite obscure event, although at least one of the people involved was anything but obscure.
